In the early days of the Barony it was determined that there should be a Bard to amuse and inspire The Barony. The Office of the Bard of the Oak has long served Darkwood and continues to do so today.
Once a year, at White Shield, a competition is held so local bards and might come and ply their art for the honor of serving the Barony.
The responsibilities of the Bard of the Oak are as follows:
- Prepare and present a piece for each baronial event during their tenure
- Initiate and run the competition for your replacement
- Advise their Excellencies as requested on matters of the Bardic Arts
- Support the Bardic Arts at large
- Maintain & Expand the Bardic Record of Darkwood
Once one’s tenure is complete their name becomes a part of the Bardic Record of Darkwood. The known former Bards are:
